Core gamers brought 70% of mobile revenues in the last year
Notwithstanding the games themselves totally accounting for a fifth of all downloads. We can see those gamers generated two-thirds of all mobile games revenues last year. The largest was spent on games like PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings.

For Android, 55% of time spent playing on mobile was given to core games, with 43% for casual and 2% for others. But casual still controls in terms of downloads, accounting for 78% of all installs across iOS and Android last year. Core games only accounted for 20%, while other was at 2%.

PUBG Mobile was the global leader in terms of regularly active users, exceeding Candy Crush Saga and Ludo King. Garena Free Fire was the most downloaded game all over the world. Lastly, Tencent’s Honour of Kings showed the biggest consumer spending, succeeded by Pokémon Go, Roblox, Monster Strike, and Coin Master.

The common time spent per day on phones was too up 20% to 4.2 hours when total downloads across all platforms grew up 7% to 218 billion.

The constant growth vividly shows how the mobile games industry is devouring its older brothers. All of this can be associated at least in part to the coronavirus pandemic, so 2021 will show us how it will be.
